Advanced Wheel Thowing Class, Fall 09

Thank you to all of my students for your hard work and creativity this semester!

Here are some highlights of student work from the Advanced Wheel Throwing and Materials ceramics courses I taught this Fall 2009 semester at SUNY New Paltz.

The following slideshow is from the Historical Research - Contemporary Design Project. Students develop design skills using the potters wheel to bring historical objects into the realm 21st century living.

The following is a slideshow of the Graduated Open Forms Project.  Students are challenged to create a set of graduated open forms from the potters wheel incorporating a trimmed foot and surface texture.

Next is the Ceramic Materials course final glaze design results.  During this course we feverishly studied all the materials in the lab, how to load and fire kilns, and how to develop clay bodies and glazes.
